CA Technologies Earns High Marks from IDC

IDC this week detailed the 2011 worldwide for the network management software and appliance market and identified CA Technologies as a leader in the space.

According to IDC, CA owned 14.1% of the market in 2010 and 13.1% in the first half of 2011. The market research firm reported that the market was $2.5 billion in 2011, growing 9.1% over 2010. And IDC expects this market to grow at a CAGR of 7.5% to $4 billion from 2012 to 2017.

Hiring and IT budgets see large increase

Advanced Technologies Not Only for Large IT Shops

Size doesn’t matter when it comes to IT organizations adopting leading-edge technologies. Recently Spiceworks, a maker of free network monitoring software for small to midsize businesses (SMB) shared the results of its State of SMB IT survey, and the data showed that many of the companies with less than 1,000 polled are putting tablet PCs, virtualization and cloud services in place.

What to Expect for High-Tech Hiring in 2012

The survey asked 1,295 IT professionals from SMB organizations around the world and of those polled, 50% are deploying or planning to deploy tablet devices such as iPads within the next six months. Nearly half (46%) of those surveyed are using cloud services, a number which grew significantly since the first half of 2011 when it reached 28%. And more than 60% of SMBs participating in the survey are using virtualization, also an increase from 54% reportedly using the technology in the first half 0f 2011, according to a Spiceworks press release.

Hiring and IT budgets see large increase

The semi-annual global study also found that IT budgets grew since the first half of 2011. With a 9% increase, the average annual IT budget for SMBs now stands at $143,000, up from the $132,000 previously reported for the first half of 2011 – which represents the largest increase in two years. And nearly one-third of those SMB IT pros polled said their organization plans to hire IT staff, according to Spiceworks.

Service Assurance in a Consumer-Driven World

IT’s customer is changing. And the way IT serves them must change too. The recent CA-IDC 2011 consumerization study found the majority of enterprises now see over more than 25% of their customer interactions originating from mobile devices. That number will only continue to climb. And as it does, so too will consumers’ expectations about the service levels they get from companies they patronize.

Some IT and business leaders are recognizing the competitive opportunity presented by the mobile Internet. Others are content to adopt a wait-and-see attitude, despite the fact that people are using iPads, iPhones, Android devices, and soon, Windows 8 devices.

The smart money is on organizations that see the value, and recognize the challenges, of mobile interactions; and optimize their mobile interactions to outpace the competition. But to do this, they must reinvent how they provision and manage IT systems. The IT organization must evolve from a controller to an orchestrator. Only orchestration gives IT the agility it needs to cope with rampant consumerization.

Integra Telecom Taps CA Technologies for Availability, Performance Management

Integra Telecom needed a better way to measure and report on network performance while also preventing service-impacting incidents from causing problems across its fiber-optic network. The networking, communications and cloud provider selected CA Infrastructure Management products to ensure its network could deliver quality, superior services to some 100,000 business and carrier customers in 11 Western states.

CA Technologies today announced Integra’s use of its products, including CA Spectrum and CA eHealth, and Integra’s plans to put CA NetQoS ReporterAnalyzer to work in its Network Operations Center for real-time visibility and historical analysis.
